I Listen to Elevator Music - So What?

Today I was revisiting one of my favorite Dave Weckl videos - an old performance of "Garden Wall." I personally LOVE this kind of music, but all of my friends accuse me of listening to "elevator music." Well, excuse me for listening to the ILLEST DRUMMERS OF ALL TIME!

Dave Weckl: "Garden Wall" from Back to Basics

On this video, the top rated comment is "I always wondered who did the drumming for the Weather Channel." I have to admit, I was laughing pretty hard!

Carlos Vega: "Early AM Attitude" with Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, and the GRP All-Stars

In addition to this, another of my favorite videos is a Carlos Vega performance with Dave Grusin and the GRP All Stars. Another 80's tune called "Early AM Attitude." Again, this is one of my favorite songs - I'm not kidding. I own the DVD!

Here's the ironic comment from a fellow Youtube junkie:

"It brings me back to 20 more years ago, when I was young and would keep´╗┐ my TV on to the channel of some local(in Taiwan) TV station which was always playing this melody during its daily stock market report. After all these years it still sounds so delightful and encouraging, just like a good old wise friend. Thank you for giving this back to me again. I don't know you, but I do admire you!"

Gary Novak: "Space" with Chick Corea, Mike Miller, and Jimmy Earl

Gary Novak is one of the best jazz drummers to ever live. No wonder he's kickin the grooves for the Chick Corea Elektric Band.

Russ Miller: "Toast for Eli" with David Garfield

If I had to choose a favorite drummer, it would be Russ Miller. His understanding of drums is unsurpassed, and his technical skill is deceivingly complex underneath his breath taking phrasing.

Vinnie Colaiuta: "Toast for Eli" with Karizma

Yup, this is one of my favorite songs, so I'll post it twice!
